Friday, March 1, 2013 (all day event)

Oregon State University Extension Service, Travel Oregon, and partners will be hosting the second of its two part Oregon Agritourism Summit “Getting to Yes”. Part II will focus specifically on public policy and regulatory issue discussions.  This summit is for policy makers, economic development, agriculture and community organizations, and agri-business owners who are interested in working together around issues of agritourism as it relates to current interpretation of laws on the one hand and farm sustainability on the other.

Goals of the summit include collaborative problem solving, exploring regulatory issues, and identifying stakeholders interested in providing leadership for Oregon agritourism. Many states, North Carolina being a prime example, embrace agritourism as an economic driver for their rural areas: as added-value revenues for farms, and as tourism dollars for the local communities.

The daylong event will take place at the LaSells Stewart Center on the Oregon State University campus in Corvallis.  The summit begins at 9:30 a.m.

Throughout the day, there will be group discussions centered on some key agritourism barriers such as on-farm lodging, food service, working across county lines, and using farm buildings for agritourism businesses.

Preregistration for the summit is required.  Lunch is included with the $35 registration.  Registration information is available on-line at: http://smallfarms.oregonstate.edu/oregonagritourismsummit or by contacting OSU Extension Service Benton County at (541) 766-3556.
